Anna has also filmed a broadcast pilot called ‘Hire My Home’ for Channel 4 and appeared as a panellist on BBC Scotland’s ‘Debate Night’. She is also a regular contributor on Radio Scotland.
Anna has built a reputation for her exciting, innovative, and highly personal approach to design projects, both in the commercial and residential sectors, and feels than now is the right time to launch her own ethically sourced British made homewares brand.
Anna has identified an emerging trend which is not yet well catered for in homewares – bold abstract geometric pattern – and has explored the history of dazzle camouflage to create her first collection.
The original Camoufleur was Norman Wilkinson, a British artist who was commissioned by the Royal Navy to create designs for the disruptive decoration for merchant and battle ships in an attempt to reduce the efficacy of enemy torpedo attacks during WW1. In his own words, he decided that a ship should be painted “not for low visibility, but in such a way as to break up her form and thus confuse a submarine officer as to the course on which she was heading”.
Anna has created three signature designs inspired by Norman Wilkinson’s original watercolours, reimagining the colours using the BS4800 British Standard range of colours for added mid-century authenticity and named after Shipping Forecast areas, Malin, Lundy and Forth.
The range will ultimately include fabric by the metre, jacquard weave merino wool throws & scarves, recycled wool military style blankets, stationery, art prints, ceramics and home fragrances. All the products will be made in Scotland from materials sourced in the UK. The cushion covers are natural unbleached linen-cotton blend woven and finished in the UK, the cushion pads are filled with British wool, as more ethical alternative to feather, with inherent breathability and anti bacterial properties.
